home is where your heart is...

Tomorrow my daughter comes home again! She called a few weeks back and asked if she could come for spring break. Alone. There is a situation at school she is dealing with and she needs to center herself. She needs a break... a reprieve. Some place to rest and find comfort. She asked to come home... here... to me.

At one point in my life I truly thought I lost my children. I was devastated beyond belief. I just knew my life was over. There was nothing left to save. Nothing good at all. I could not even breathe.

Today I know that my children will always need me. They will always look to me for strength, assurance, or simply a quiet place for them to think. In good times and in bad, they come home. Not to a physical or material place. Material things mean nothing in crisis. Not to their childhood address where they grew up. Not to the town they lived their entire lives.

They come home to where their mind and heart and soul says they are safe. Where they'll find comfort and rest and peace. Where unconditional love quietly holds them safely and allows them to breathe.

Home truly is where the heart is and my babies are always going to have their heart's home with me.

Amazing. I am always amazed from where I was emotionally back when my world fell apart and where God has delivered me. Hope comes in many forms - from different people, places, events, things. But one thing stays the same -

Hope is always free... and it lives inside -- inside of you and me.
