“The happiest people don’t have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything they have. Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God."

accountable

"There is no such thing as sacrifice. There are only choices. Learning the value of discipline taught me how to make consistent choices that continually empower me. My decisions are no longer all over the place; they are focused, clear and consistent."

peace of mind

Peace of mind isn't at all superficial, really, I expound. It's the whole thing. That which produces it is good Maintenance; that which disturbs it is poor maintenance. What we call workability of the machine is just an objectification of this peace of mind. The ultimate test's always your own serenity. If you don't have this when you start and maintain it while your working, you're likely to build your personal problems right into the machine itself.

another Blossom Festival come and gone

The Magnolia Blossom Festival was once again a big hit due to the Food Channel. Tickets were sold out early in the day. The info booth was hopping and it was the hardest we worked since I've been volunteering.

The weather was perfect. Spending time with my sister was wonderful. I have no pics to share as my camera has been broken for over a year. You'll have to take my word for it! lol

You can view the results of all the Steak Cook-off award winners by Clicking Here .

Until next year... :-)

Congrats Ryan!

I wish I could have been there! Congrats on graduating SAU May 9th and moving on up to Louisiana Tech this coming fall. You're halfway to your electrical engineering degree!!! I know you will be successful wherever you go and whatever you do.

I am so very proud of you... :-)

Congrats Bethany & JoJo & Tommy!

My daughter and her best friend JoJo graduated on Saturday, May 10th from Albion College in Michigan. They worked hard for four years and both of them graduated with department honors, Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude to name only the top three.

My mother took the trip up north with me. It was one of the proudest days of my life - separate from the day my children were born into the world.

I couldn't be more proud...
Tommy graduated U of M a few weeks ago with top honors too! You all three rock!!!

You all inspire me...

mothers will always be mothers

Until the day they die.
I love mine!
More than words can say...

Saturday night:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Voice mail: "Robyn. I know you're probably working your 2nd job so call me when you get home."
2nd voice mail a few hours later (because, of course, I was riding 450 miles that day and the last thing I thought about was my cell phone): "Robyn. I need to talk to you. Call me."
Ok.... 9:30pm get the messages and figure I better call.
Mom: "I need you to get on the computer. I need our flight information for Michigan. I need to send it back to school with Chase for their records."
Me: "I can't Mom. I'm not near a computer."
Mom: "You're not near a computer? Where are you?"
Me: "Just a little bit North of Fort Worth. I took a little ride today with some friends. We're having a meet and greet. My girlfriend wanted to give me a more comfortable seat for my bike and then we're all going to hear a friend preach at his church tomorrow. He's got a church for bikers and his brothers and the girls want to hear him."
Mom: "YOU RODE YOUR BIKE ON THE HIGHWAY???!!! Out of town?????"
Me: "Yes Mom. I've ridden on the highway in Houston a lot."
Mom: "But you're up north?! Out of town? On your bike???"
Me: "Yes."
Mom: "I can't believe you're taking that thing out of town! I can't believe you'd be so..."
Me (interrupting): "Mom. Do not be mad at me. This is why I didn't tell you. Now listen -- I don't drink, I don't do drugs, I don't do anything illegal. I'm working two jobs and I have ONE vice -- riding. Do NOT tell me what I can or cannot do."
Mom: "FINE! If you want to end up on the side of the road with your face all smashed in and skin all ripped off and your body all mangled up so be it. I can't believe you did this Robyn."
Me: *sighing* "Mom... know this one thing... if that happens, know that there was a smile on my face the whole way down. I'm having the time of my life."
Mom: "Whatever. I'll talk to you later. Good bye."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I think that went fairly well... LMAO!!!

My sister told me today that my mom called her all upset and wanted to add her into the will as a supplemental person to take care of things if she dies. My sister talked her down... thank goodness.

Try to sneak outta town and that's what I get...
I love my mom! :-)

a gift & flying free

One of my Harley's Angels sisters e-mailed me yesterday to say she had a surprise for me. When we met after work today, she gave me the pic below taken riding into the Bay Area Rally at NASA a few weeks ago. She had purchased it for me as a gift.

There is nothing like it... having extended family. She said, "You look great, Robyn. I just had to get it for you!"

I am humbled by all the people that care for me...
