twitter-ing here ~ twittering there

Ok... I signed up for Twitter and am trying to figure out exactly what it's use is... lol

Received a notification this morning and found it an interesting statement but I can't find the facts to back up its assumption. Help! Anyone? Any and all explanations are welcome!
