our highest and most holy calling is to love

~Love others~

"Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them."

~Love ourselves~

"Always know that you do not have to search for love or kindness in unhealthy places, you are always welcomed right here and right now, in your sacred space called *Just You*."

♥ Thank you Dr. Sullivan & Red Bluff Animal Hospital ♥

I highly recommend Dr. Sullivan and his staff. When Samantha was near death and they thought she wouldn't pull through, he was kind, caring, and loving to her and to me.  His staff fit Sam in right away one morning when I was beyond grief-stricken. And then, miraculously, they brought her back to life. A part of my heart will be forever broken when I lose my baby, but for now, because of these wonderful people who love and care for animals in this exceptionally caring office, I have her for a little while longer.

♥ I love the Red Bluff Animal Hospital! ♥

finding your voice

One of my favorite contemporary books is Eat, Pray, Love written by Elizabeth Gilbert.  Her voice is honest, open, and truthful as she relates her journey to finding happiness, peace, contentment, and love in a world that wants to tell us what should make us happy or what we should feel or what we should do.

understanding your pet's feelings and emotions

After the week you all know I've had with Samantha and not knowing what was causing her paralysis and vomiting, a search was on for trying to find some level of comprehension and understanding while she was/is ill and recuperating. I found this excellent segment and am sharing it. If you love animals and you have pets, it is a *must see* show!

UPDATE:  Sam is walking much better; barely a wobble but

the perfect Mother's Day gift for *me*

For Mother's Day, my caring loving daughter gave me the best gift one could give me. I received a card today that said:

"Mom, I have decided to share your love of books with children who desperately need them - in honor of you this Mother's Day. Your love of learning has now spread around the world!"

Here is a bit more of what was on the card (I love this gift!):

everything rides on hope now

HOPE NOW

If everything comes down to love
Then just what am I afraid of
When I call out Your name
Something inside awakes in my soul
How quickly I forget I'm Yours

(PRE-CHORUS)
I'm not my own
I've been carried by You
All my life

(CHORUS)
Everything rides on hope now
Everything rides on faith somehow
When the world has broken me down
Your love sets me free

When my life is like a storm
Rising waters all I want is the shore
You say I'll be ok and
Make it through the rain
You are my shelter from the storm

from my friend ChoP

Thank you Harry...  she's beautiful.  It made this girl's morning after a very rough week... *kotc*

will man ever evolve... i wonder...

"The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral, begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy. Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it. Through violence you may murder the liar, but you cannot murder the lie, nor establish the truth. Through violence you may murder the hater, but you do not murder hate. In fact, violence merely increases hate. So it goes. Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness:
Only light can do that.
Hate cannot drive out hate:
Only love can do that."
~Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."
~Dr.Martin Luther King Jr.

"Cowardice asks the question - is it safe?
Expediency asks the question - is it politic?
Vanity asks the question - is it popular?
But conscience asks the question - is it right?
And there comes a time when one must take a position
that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular;
but one must take it because it is right."
~Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

"Nonviolence is the answer to
the crucial political and moral questions of our time:
The need for man to overcome oppression and violence
without resorting to oppression and violence.
Man must evolve for all human conflict
a method which rejects revenge, aggression and retaliation.
The foundation of such a method is love."
~Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech,
Stockholm, Sweden, December 11, 1964

"A nation that continues year after year
to spend more money on military defense
than on programs of social uplift
is approaching spiritual death."
~Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Where Do We Go from Here: Chaos or Community?, 1967

"Man was born into barbarism
when killing his fellow man
was a normal condition of existence.
He became endowed with a conscience.
And he has now reached the day
when violence toward another human being
must become as abhorrent as eating another's flesh."
~Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Why We Can't Wait, 1963

"Somehow this madness must cease.
We must stop now.
I speak as a child of God and brother
to the suffering poor of Vietnam.
I speak for those whose land is being laid waste,
whose homes are being destroyed,
whose culture is being subverted.
I speak for the poor in America
who are paying the double price
of smashed hopes at home
and death and corruption in Vietnam.
I speak as a citizen of the world,
for the world as it stands aghast
at the path we have taken.
I speak as an American
to the leaders of my own nation.
The great initiative in this war is ours.
The initiative to stop it must be ours."
~Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The Trumpet of Conscience, 1967

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness;
only light can do that.
Hate cannot drive out hate;
only love can do that.
Hate multiplies hate,
violence multiplies violence,
and toughness multiplies toughness
in a descending spiral of destruction....
The chain reaction of evil --
hate begetting hate,
wars producing more wars --
must be broken,
or we shall be plunged
into the dark abyss of annihilation."
~Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Strength To Love, 1963

"Like anybody, I would like to live a long life.
Longevity has its place.
But I'm not concerned about that now.
I just want to do God's will.
And He's allowed me to go up to the mountain.
And I've looked over.
And I've seen the promised land.
I may not get there with you.
But I want you to know tonight,
that we, as a people will get to the promised land."
~Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

just let go... value *you*

Dear Friend,

My heart aches for you knowing what you are going through right now.  I can't "help" other than to sit, listen, and be a shoulder for your head to rest on as you walk this difficult journey.

Know this ~ it will pass and

♥ live for the moments you can't put into words ♥
